What data is collected from me?

We collect data that you provide us in the surveys and by using the Path2Work platform. We link this data with administrative data (ZEMIS) from the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) to investigate who found a job in which firm. The SEM will not be able to access your personal data collected in this study.

How is my data stored?

We store your personal information (for example, name and contact information) digitally and securely on a database hosted by the ETH Zurich on-site. Personally identifiable information is stored in a dedicated database separate from all other usage data (for example, your skill profile, usage statistics). The dedicated database with personally identifiable information is encrypted and accessible only to selected project members and will be deleted after completion of the project, but no longer than 10 years after data collection.

After the study's completion, your data will be fully anonymized. The anonymization guarantees that no one can infer your identity ever again. Storing the anonymized data is necessary to allow future studies to review and replicate our findings. We publish properly anonymized data collected on Path2Work in a FAIR data repository where it is kept indefinitely.

Accent Languages, which provides the ELAO language test, stores the test results with the highest level of protection in accordance with European Union data protection rules in Microsoft Azure's EUWEST data centers in Amsterdam. No personal data will be forwarded to Accent Languages.

How is my data used?

We use your data to estimate aggregate statistics, such as the impact of the Path2Work platform on the job-finding rate. Our analyses do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about individual participants.

What are my rights to my personal data?

You can delete your user profile and request your data to be removed from the study by contacting path2work@ethz.ch. For technical reasons, your data can only be deleted as long as they have not been anonymized.

Are you sharing my personal data with third parties?

No, we do not share your personal data with third parties.

Members of the ETH Zurich Ethics Commission may access the original data for examination purposes. Strict confidentiality will be observed at all times.

Where can I complain?

The secretariat of the ETH Zurich Ethics Committee is available to help you with complaints in connection with data protection. Contact: ethics@sl.ethz.ch or +41 44 632 85 72.
